Mr. Sokolin's visit at library of Bulgarian NSI

On 27 April 2009 the Director of Russian State Committee on Statistics Mr. Vladimir Sokolin visited the library of the National Statistical Institute.

The entire process of digitalizing of Bulgarian statistical publications was shown to Mr. Sokolin.

The library specialists presented the NSI Electronic library and the application of new information technologies in service to users of statistical information.

Mr. Sokolin mentioned that he had already seen the presentation of NSI Electronic library. He welcomed the opportunity to be personally introduced with the library’s achievements.

EUROSTAT VICE DIRECTOR GENERALE VISITED BNSI LIBRARY

On 16 March 2009 the Vice-Director General of Eurostat – Mrs Marie Bohata visited the library of the National Statistical Institute.

The library experts informed Mrs. Bohata about the history of the library, electronic library and digital information resources.

Mrs Bohata congratulated the library experts on their success, wishing them all the best for future activities in the field of organization and management of digital information resources.

Mr.Radermacher's visit at library of Bulgarian NSI

On 19 January 2009 the Director General of Eurostat - Mr. Walter Radermacher visited the library of National Statistical Institute. Mr. Radermacher took an interest in electronic library. He gave great expression to digital database of Bulgarian National Statistics since 1881.

The library experts presented to Mr. Radermacher the complete technology of building up, conversion and dissemination of digital information resources.

111 YEARS OF STATISTICAL LIBRARY !

On December 10, 1897the Library of Bulgarian Statistics was set up with the law on the Statistics Directorate of Bulgarian Principality (Decree of Prince Ferdinand the I ^st).

The necessity of preservation of the statistical information is a fact up to now proving the historical role and contemporary mission of the statistical library.

The library was renovated and modernized with the financial support of EU under the project “Sustainable Development of the National Statistical System”. The library has been equipped with appropriate software, hardware and furniture.

At present the library possesses a database with 500 000 digital pages of Bulgarian national statistics since 1881. Collections of rare and true merit editions ware scanned and preserved for the future generations.
